Green Revolution: 5 Best Reasons Why Going Green is the Healthy Option

It's  a pleasure to know that there comes a time when you find an article contributor that helps you relax and just have it posted.  This is one of it.

Green Revolution

The idea of going green and making environmentally responsible choices has been around for decades. There are several reasons that someone makes the active decision to become environmentally aware from energy conservation to financial savings. A number of health benefits are also attached to a green lifestyle. Going green will help to improve health and wellness in five primary ways depending on the choices that are made.

Better Air Quality

A green lifestyle seeks to lower the environmental footprint of an individual by avoiding practices and items that are harmful to the environment. One benefit from this is an improvement in air quality. Using alternate fuel sources, efficient appliances and fewer harsh chemicals will mean that the air stays clean and clear in a home. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the day will also contribute to better air quality in the community over time. Better air quality means fewer respiratory problems.

Lower Chemical Exposure

The decision to go green means avoiding the use of chemicals and other materials that negatively affect the environment. Household cleaners, lawn fertilizers and even laundry detergents can all contain harmful chemicals that cause health problems in certain individuals. Household cleaners can cause respiratory inflammation that could result in an asthma attack. Lawn fertilizers with high levels of phosphorous could affect the local water supply. Powerful detergents and cleaners have the potential to trigger skin and eye irritation. Choosing green products will mean lower chemical exposure that will result in better health.

Exercise And Fitness

Part of going green means exploring environmentally friendly options for transportation on a daily basis. People in large cities could use public transportation. Individuals who live near a workplace could walk or bike to work. This provides an opportunity for regular exercise. Even walking to the store instead of driving could provide enough exercise each day to make a noticeable health difference. Additionally, green practices like planting a vegetable garden will give an individual increased exposure to the sun that triggers the production of beneficial vitamins in the body.

Better Nutrition

People who are leading a green lifestyle make conscious choices about the sources of the foods that are eaten. Buying local products and some organic foods will improve the quality of each meal. This is because commercially processed foods often contain chemical preservatives. Industrially grown produce could be coated in pesticides or might have been exposed to carbon dioxide as a preservative. Choosing minimally processed foods, local foods and certain organic items will reduce the number of chemicals and harmful substances that are eaten each day.

Fewer Environmental Risks

The ultimate goal of a green lifestyle is to improve the overall condition of the environment. This will contribute to better health in a number of ways. Clean water will reduce the development of toxic organisms that can enter the water supply. Cleaner air will reduce the occurrence of asthma. Normal seasons and low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the atmosphere will inhibit the development of diseases. This results in a better quality of life for everyone.
