How to Become a Good Writer: Comparing Chocolate Munching and Article Writing
I am not a good writer, but I love writing.
This may not give me the license to tell you tidbits on how
to write efficiently, but I guess I can give tips on how you can enjoy writing
like you enjoy munching your M&M candies; because this is how I started writing.
Right!
I started writing just like the way you are eating your M&M
candies.
The Chocolate and Article Analogy
I love chocolates; unfortunately, the doctor advised me to
stay away from it if I wish to stay healthy. Nevertheless, I consider writing
and eating chocolates one and the same. How? Take a look at their similarities:
Chocolates
should melt in your mouth not in your hand. Articles should melt in the mind,
not in the garbage can.
Virtue: Know the purpose why you
are writing. Is it for pleasure or for work? If you write for work then it
would really be stressful, but try thinking it is not about work, rather treat
it as a hobby. In this manner, it will always be fun and exciting.

Quotes with Sense |
Chocolates can be too sweet or too
bitter for some.
Articles can be too shallow or too
ambiguous for readers.
Virtue: You cannot please everyone,
so why bother? Just write what you wish to do. You have every right to do so
especially if you are telling the truth.
Who are you? |
Chocolates have different brands.
Articles should also have a brand.
Virtue: Never plagiarize. If you
need to copy an important source of information or copy an image then be
responsible enough to acknowledge the source. It is the least you can do.
Nevertheless, it is best to create an image for yourself.
Chocolates can be a cure or an
addiction.
Articles should be a cure to your
addiction.
I am the Boss |
Virtue: You are the master of the
article and not the slave of the article. Write only when you feel like writing. Write what you want and not what others want to read from you;
unless you are tasked to do SEO of course.
Chocolates come from cocoa beans.
Articles come from the brain,
the heart, and the soul.
Acknowledging the Source |
Virtue: You have more sources of
information when writing an article. So, there is no reason why you should say
I have writer’s block. Remove the block and proceed into writing.
Conclusion:
All I want to say is this. Enjoy writing and you can become
a good writer. Never pressure yourself. Treat it as a part of your daily
routine. Make it a habit. Be proud of your work and share it to social
networks. If you receive any negative remarks then consider it as a
constructive criticism. Look at things positively and it will do you good.!
