But is it worth it?

The History of Halloween

Etymologically speaking, Halloween is a shortened version of "Hallow's Evening." It is celebrated on the night of October 31 and has its origin from the ancient Celtic festival. They believe that this is the period where the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead overlapped and the dead would come back to life and cause havoc such as sickness or damaged crops. Thus to prevent their community from experiencing any disaster, they would wear masks and costumes.

Today, many celebrate Halloween not for the belief that it would prevent them from experiencing disaster. They do so because of the fun it brings to communities, particularly to kids. However, isn't it better to teach the kids facts rather than make them believe myths?

This may be a never-ending argument that only ends after someone makes a decision for himself.

Do I celebrate Halloween?

NO!

Why?

I want to leave in the world of truth. Halloween is filled with fiction and offers fun for a short period. I'd rather spend time and effort in things that last, just as it has been written in the Bible.

NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION
II CORINTHIANS 4:18

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Some find this philosophy eerie and hard to understand, but in reality it isn't. Try reading this blog from Bro. Eliseo Soriano and it will help you better understand why this is one of the best philosophies in life.

Please post your thoughts after reading it in this post. I will be more than happy to hear from you.

Thanks!
