Researchers are struggling hard to find another “earth.”
They believe that it is a possibility and Kepler
22 is providing a list of possible planets with habitable zone.
“Altogether Kepler now
has a staggering list of 2,326 possible planet detections, 207 of which are
close to Earth in size and 680 are “super Earth” sized (i.e. up to about 10
times as large).”
I applaud their determination and commitment to find one;
however, I wish to believe otherwise. We will only have one earth and if we
fail to protect it from humankind’s ignorance then it would certainly bring
forth its fast demise.
I am pleased to see that Facebook is not solely for
socialization, but it has been transformed into a tool for education. Earth Justice is a fabulous way
of sending the message to more people for them to be concerned about the earth.
Unfortunately, it only managed to gain 50,972 likes as of the moment, which is
extremely low in comparison to the millions of likes gained by celebrities.
Does it mean there are really less people who are interested to learn more
about the battle Mother Earth has been combating for the past decades?
A Glimpse of the Past
Earth Justice was
founded in the year 1971. It was originally referred to as Sierra Club Legal
Defense Fund as it fought hard to protect the Mineral
King Valley located
at California .
It has lost several battles, but it managed to win that war. Disney decided to
pull out the project after much publicity has been created explaining the
ecological imbalance the project will produce.
List of Headquarters
I was hoping to see their office in the Philippines , but I soon realized it is an active
defender of Earth in the US
alone. It may be spreading the news to nearby countries, but serious
involvement from other countries is yet to be seen. The Philippines is
a very beautiful country, but majority of its citizens is yet to be aware of
the dangers their lifestyle is bringing to the Earth. It is important that
they, especially the youth, are made aware of these matters because they will
soon become the future defenders of the earth.
Earth Justice is
one of the many ways we can help preserve the only living planet in the
universe. We should join hands to help it go through these difficult times. Let
us begin with a change in our lifestyle. Let us challenge ourselves to stay
away from plastic, styrofaom, and other non-biodegradable products. Let us become
part of the defense against those who wish to harm the environment. Let us join
hands and start protecting Mother Earth.
