Adele or Christina Perri: Which is the Better Choice

I was feeling melancholy these past days. I got a good scolding by my foster father over something and I resulted to music, the remedy of the heart, the soul, and the mind. I chanced upon hearing Christina Perri for the first time, and boy I got stuck listening to her music for the entire day. (Maybe because she sang a song together with my favorite artist Jason Mraz)

Christina Perri: Biography

Christina Perri has a similar road to success with that of singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat, who became popular through her MySpace profile, which led her to become one of the number one unsigned singer for her genre for four consecutive months. On the contrary, Christina Perri had a different background, he served as a cafĂ© waitress but was moonlighting also as unsigned songwriter. Her success began when her piano ballads “Jar of Hearts” was features in the television show “So You Think You Could Dance.” This forced her to release an independent single with was immediately downloaded by over 100,000 people within two weeks. She soon found herself with a contract with Atlantic, thus the release of her debut album, “Lovestrong.”

This is the song that made her way to the charts:

Adele Vs Christina Perri

Is she worthy to be compared with her majesty, Adele?

Adele is referred to as the next Amy Winehouse, although I beg to disagree. She has her own style of music and she should be credited for it. I compare the two because of the type of songs they make. Both are powerful yet dramatic. It cuts deep into the heart. I guess that is the reason why they easily top the charts. It speaks of true emotions, which can only be felt by individuals who have experienced the same. Both have gone through tough times and music became their companion. I am happy with the success both has gained, but for now I need to side with Christina Perri. I like her angst attitude more than the elegant frame exhibited by her majesty ( let me call Adele her majesty, because of the grace she radiates whenever she is on stage ) Just look at the difference of their performances.

Here are a few favorite songs of Christina Perri, which I am loving right now. I guess it has something to do with the past and the present; which I can relate better in comparison to the despair in the songs of Adele.

Of course, I consider anything that Jason Mraz chooses to be a work of art. So here are both of the artists that I love live together:

Jason, I just hope you cut your hair... Even so, your voice is still leisure in my ears. Please come to the Philippines again, probably November in time for my birthday...
