When Quitting is Never an Option

The world could be so crazy at times, I would like to shout from the top of my lungs and fly high up into the sky. My mind takes me high up where I could see the galaxy, but I soon realize I can’t breathe properly in outer space. I end up going back to the ground and enjoying the oxygen it feeds my lungs. This is how my mind works and I wonder how long I can keep up with it.

There are moments where you really want to say to the master clock, STOP.

I need time to think.

I need time to rest.

I need time.

Just time.

Unfortunately, it fails to listen. It just keeps moving forward. Tick tock tick tock tick tock. It could really be annoying, but it is one thing I don’t have any control and neither do you. Time is powerful that it cannot be gained back. It is either utilized or wasted.

So why do I say QUITTING IS NOT AN OPTION? How can it be an option if quitting means non-existence! The end of quitting is death. So why should anyone choose death if life is easily available?

Quitting only becomes an option for those who do not wish to feel pain and suffering; but if this justifies quitting, then mankind may have not progressed this much.  I therefore present a list of personalities that never quit; instead, they fought a good fight and managed to succeed. I intend to succeed, so with the help and mercy of the Almighty let me conquer my own fears.

Robert Sternberg
He is known in the field of psychology for his work Triarchic Theory of Human Intelligence, but I guess not many are aware that while he was a student of introductory-psychology he received a grade of C. If he quit then he may not have graduated summa cum laude from the prestigious Stanford University and become the President of the American Psychological Association in the year 2002.

Thomas Edison
You know this man too well because of the numerous light bulb advertisement, yet he remains a good inspiration to those who fail a lot. He failed 1000 times while inventing the light bulb. His teacher considered him too stupid to learn anything. He was fired for his first two jobs because of non-productivity. If he lost sight of hope, then he may not have been recorded in history as the inventor of the light bulb.

Walt Disney
He was fired by his newspaper editor because he was seen with no good ideas and lacked imagination. Hello? Are we talking about THE WALT DISNEY? The newspaper editor may be looking at a different man or he may need to wear eyeglasses to see real talent. I am glad he is not my editor.

Elvis Presley
The King of Rock N Roll was told by Jimmy Denny in 1954 that he would go nowhere. I guess nowhere in his vocabulary meant going on top of the world because the King remains the King of Rock N Roll until the present.

Van Gogh
He is one of my most favorite painters. Interestingly, he sold only one painting in his lifetime, but he never stopped painting. I’m glad he didn’t because if he did then we wouldn’t be seeing his genius today.

Do you think QUITTING IS STILL AN OPTION? You may not be reading this article quite clearly. Go to the top and read it again. I will not quit until I get you convinced that you shouldn’t. Pursue your goal. Put your heart into it and you are bound to succeed.

Cheers!
