More than Sore Throat: Its Acute Bronchitis

acute bronchitis

I thought it was only sore throat, but I soon realized it was more than that. It was actually acute bronchitis. It is not something that could kill a person, but it is a sickness that required me to sleep more, rest more, and drink plenty of fluid.

Symptoms;

“The most common symptom of acute bronchitis is a cough that is dry and hacking at first. After a few days, the cough may bring up mucus. You may have a low fever and feel tired.

Acute bronchitis symptoms usually start 3 or 4 days after an upper respiratory tract infection. Most people get better in 2 to 3 weeks. But some people continue to have a cough for more than 4 weeks.

Pneumonia can have symptoms like acute bronchitis. Because pneumonia can be serious, it is important to know the differences between the two illnesses. Symptoms of pneumonia can include a high fever, shaking chills, and shortness of breath.”

Recommended Treatment:
Since acute bronchitis is a viral infection, antibiotics won’t work, but drinking plenty of fluids and resting will help you get rid of it quickly. Of course, I do have my dose of Vitamin C and the other regimen I have mentioned when was finding a cure for sore throat.

Mother's Touch

Mom’s TLC ( tender-loving-care) and father’s TLH (tender-loving-hand) helped. Of course, how could I forget the SMS messages from Donna, Mhodel, and Donna, and Mhodel. Plus my online buddies foster brother, Mr. Finance. I do have a few friends I guess, but I think that is better since I know them well and I do hope they know me too.

Right now, I officially have my voice box. Well, not to its maximum; but at least I don’t need to use sign language for them to understand me. Prayers of my dearly beloved brethren helped a lot as well. I believe, sickness comes from above and treatment from it is also a blessing sent by the Father. Both are acts of kindness because nothing ill will ever come from Him. It is given unto us for a purpose, I know the purpose for this sickness and I appreciate it very much. I have longed waited to have a break… this is probably the break I was hoping for.

Today, foster father, George, is still sick. He mentioned he has inhaler due to his asthma. Mom fixed my guyabano, pandan, lagundi herbs for me to drink. It doesn’t taste good, but the secret is to simply imagine it is honey or anything nicer. Close your eyes and drink it straight. Then follow it up with water. Before I sleep, I would have my dose of oregano extract and lastly the massage from my father so I can sleep well.

Mother reminded me that bronchitis has been my childhood sickness. She reminded me to take good care of my help and not to abuse it. It has sunk deep into my system, but what can I do? If duty calls, duty calls… its hard to explain but I sure am happy for the short rest plus the love of everyone.
